CARD PLAYING

Playing cards is one of the most popular activities at the Center.  Monday & Friday afternoons you will find the BRIDGE players.  On the 2nd & 4th Wednesday afternoons Duplicate Bridge is played.  PINOCHLE is also played on Wednesday afternoon & 500 is played on Friday afternoon.  For more information on how to get involved with card groups, call us at (906) 341-5923, we will tell you the contact person for each group.  If you have other card game/games you would like to play, there is always room for more!

POTLUCKS

The Center’s monthly potluck dinners are held the third Thursday of each month.  A get together with friends & family.  Entertainment at 4pm & dinner at 5pm.  There are no potlucks in January, February (Hotdog Roast), April (Pancake Supper), September (Open House Picnic), & December (Christmas Party).

CRAFT & GIFT CORNER

The Center has an ongoing sale of craft items from local crafters.  The Center receives 15% of all sales.  Some items are donated to the Center and 100% goes to the Center.  All proceeds go into the General Fund to help with the operation & maintenance.  If you are interested in donating items, please feel free to call us or drop them off.  If you are interested in putting things in the sale, we will give you the contact number.

TUESDAY BINGO

Every Tuesday afternoon the Center operates a State regulated Bingo.  Bingo is open to the public.  You must be at least 18 years of age to play.  Doors open at 12:30pm (after the noon meal), play starts at 1:30pm & finishes at about 4pm.

CREATIVE WRITING GROUP

If you like to write, this group is for you.  They  meet the last Thursday of each month at 4pm at the Senior Center.  Under the direction of Betty LaPointe, the group has had its’ 8th publication done of some of their memories thay have put on paper.  They welcome new writers to come join them.

 

APRIL PANCAKE SUPPER

This is another one of the favorites.  Our volunteer cooks are great, they even make homemade sticky buns, along with, bacon, eggs, potatoes, biscuits & gravy, and of course, pancakes and juice and coffee to go with.  All for $5.00.  Come join the fun on the 3rd Thursday of April, with entertainment starting at 4pm with pancakes to follow.

BUS TRIPS

Several trips are arranged through the Center annually, such as the Country Music Show in Munising, Casino Adventures, Senior Day at the Escanaba State Fair, Color Tour Trips, Shopping Trips, the Annual Senior Convention and anything else we can make arrangements and get enough to participate for.

ANNUAL FALL OPEN HOUSE PICNIC

Held the first Thursday of September.  Most activities are in the parking lot (weather permitting) under the tents.  Festivities begin at 11am with a lunch of BBQ ribs being served from 11:30-12:30, activities, raffles, door prizes, and lots of local entertainment make up the day.

ANNUAL CBC BAKE SALE

For many years the seniors have been a part of this local fund-raising event held on Palm Sunday.  Our seniors & friends of the Center are very generous in providing the wonderful bake goods for the table, with all proceeds going to CBC.  This event is held at the Manistique High School and is televised on the local TV station.

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY

This event is usually held on the 2nd Thursday of December. It’s a fun night for all, with entertainment, dinner, gifts, & a visit from Santa.

ANNUAL HOTDOG ROAST

Our winter picnic is one of the favorite events at the Center!  Grill roasted 1/4 lb. hotdogs with all the fixins’ served with the traditional favorites, potato salad, baked beans, deviled eggs, & more.  Dinner is topped off with Guerda’s Hot Fudge Cake.  Yum-Yum!!  The date to remember is the third Thursday of February.
